I'm writing a book, and would like to know the name of the the product
used in an early 1950s tv ad that I've seen on tv's TV Land or
Nick-at-Nite. It advertises a young woman who has mud with radiation
applied to her face. A geiger counter shows the mud pack to be
radioactive. Then she uses the face cleanser to remove the
radioactive mud and a geiger counter shows her face to be clear of
radioactivity. Please let me know the name of the product or any

“Television’s Most Outrageous Commercials”. The commercial was made in
1955 and the name of the product is “Dorothy Gray Salon Cold Cream”.
The following excerpt describes the commercial:
“As the commercial begins, our model is prancing around downtown in a
fur coat, completely self-involved and checking her make-up because
there are so many shops to go to. Later, in order to prove the
cleansing power of Dorothy Gray Salon Cold Cream, her face is actually
covered in radioactive dirt - verified with a Geiger counter.”
“Now that the woman's skin is fully radioactive, simply clean with
Dorothy Gray, and Voila! - the Geiger counter proves it, Dorothy Gray
cleans better! “
